Rockstar has shown nothing of GTA 6 Online. Every picture here is single player footage of the same world, which is the only thing anyone can honestly show you today.
Short version: Rockstar has not announced an online or multiplayer mode for GTA 6. No name, no date, no details, no confirmation that one exists at all. Everything Rockstar has shown and said so far has been about the single player game.
That is not the same as "it will not happen", and this page is not going to pretend otherwise in either direction. What follows is the line between what has actually been confirmed and what has not, kept to official sources. The moment that line moves, this page moves with it.

- Whether GTA 6 has an online or multiplayer mode at all.
- Any name for one. "GTA Online 2" is a label the internet invented, not Rockstar.
- Any release window, at launch or later.
- Whether GTA Online characters, money or progress would carry across.
- Whether GTA Online continues, changes or ends when GTA 6 arrives.
What Rockstar's own history suggests
This is the part everyone reaches for, so it is worth being precise about what it is: a pattern in how Rockstar has shipped multiplayer before, and nothing more. It is not a forecast and it is not sourced to anybody at Rockstar.
Grand Theft Auto V released on 17 September 2013. GTA Online followed on 1 October 2013, two weeks later, and was not playable at launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 released on 26 October 2018, and Red Dead Online opened as a beta on 27 November 2018, about a month later.
In both cases the multiplayer component arrived after the single player game, separately, and in Red Dead's case explicitly unfinished. If GTA 6 follows the same shape, an online component would land some time after 19 November rather than on it. If it does not, that sentence is worth nothing. Both possibilities are open, which is exactly why no date belongs on this page.
Why you are reading conflicting things
Searches for "GTA 6 Online" return a great deal of confident writing about modes, maps, microtransactions and carry-over systems. Almost none of it is sourced to Rockstar, because there is nothing at Rockstar to source it to. Some of it is reasoning from GTA Online's history, which is fair enough when it is labelled as such. Some of it is leaks and datamines, which we do not publish, link or describe here under any circumstances.

This page changes the day it changes
An online announcement would be one of the largest remaining GTA 6 stories, and it is the kind of thing that arrives through a Rockstar Newswire post rather than a rumour. Until then it says what it says now.

Is GTA 6 Online confirmed?
No. Rockstar has not announced an online or multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto VI. Every official announcement so far has concerned the single player game, which launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When would GTA 6 Online launch?
No date exists, because no mode has been announced. For context only: GTA Online arrived two weeks after GTA V in 2013, and Red Dead Online's beta arrived about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. That is a pattern from Rockstar's history, not a statement about GTA 6.
Will my GTA Online character or money carry over to GTA 6?
Rockstar has not said anything about this. No transfer of characters, money, vehicles or progress has been announced, and anything claiming otherwise today is speculation.
Is GTA Online shutting down when GTA 6 launches?
Rockstar has made no announcement about ending support for GTA Online. It remains available on its existing platforms.
