What is GTA 6 rated?
Short answer: it depends where you are, and in most of the world it has not been rated yet. GTA games always end up with the top adult rating in the United States and Europe, and every GTA since III has, but "always has" is not a rating. Here is what each board has actually published as of September 2026.

What the ratings mean in practice
Mature 17+ (ESRB)
Content generally suitable for ages 17 and up. GTA V's descriptors were blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol. GTA 6's final descriptors are not published yet.
PEGI 18
The adult classification in Europe and the UK, applied when depictions of violence reach a level that makes them indistinguishable from real life, or for content such as drug use and gambling. Every mainline GTA has carried it.
MA 15+ (Australia)
Legally restricted: under 15s need a parent or guardian to buy it or to see it. R 18+ would restrict it to adults outright. The difference is the Board's view of impact, "strong" against "high", and GTA V sat on the high side. Australia has a history with the series: an early version of GTA III was pulled from sale in 2001 until it was edited.
Will GTA 6 be banned in Australia?
No. A title that has been classified has, by definition, not been refused classification. The only question left for Australians is MA 15+ against R 18+, and the published consumer advice points to the former.

PEGI has not listed Grand Theft Auto VI yet. GTA V is PEGI 18 and every mainline GTA has carried that rating.

No. It is classified MA 15+, which is the opposite of being refused classification.
Can a 15 year old play GTA 6?
Depends on the country. In Australia an MA 15+ title can be bought by a 15 year old, and younger players need a parent or guardian. In the US and Europe the expected ratings are 17+ and 18+, though neither has been issued yet.
