Every rock carving in Red Dead Redemption 2 with its region and where it sits, numbered the way the Red Dead Wiki numbers them. They are for Francis Sinclair, the stranger of Geology for Beginners, met north of Strawberry. None are in New Austin or Lemoyne, so Arthur can find all ten.

FAQ

How many rock carvings are there in RDR2?

10: three in Ambarino, five in New Hanover and two in West Elizabeth. All are listed above and plotted on the interactive map.

Do I need all 10 rock carvings for 100%?

The 100% list asks you to complete Geology for Beginners, which only completes once every carving has been found and mailed to Francis Sinclair. The checklist here tracks it as one item.

Can I find the carvings before meeting Francis Sinclair?

Up to nine. The tenth will not register until the stranger mission is active, so meet Francis north of Strawberry, show him the journal drawings, and the last one counts.
